Doing What Ya Love…

Just back from an early morning walk on the beach. Love to get out there on the non-snow weekends just after the sun has come up, smell the ocean, figure out what’s changed on the beach from the tides the night before and walk the entire length of the beach picking up the plastic sea trash. Gives me something do, justifies the walk and keeps me green-friendly something I’m not in my day-to-day business life.

Even in today’s 18 degree temp, the surfers were out there this morning riding the big waves kicked up by this week’s offshore storm and days of rain. Pretty impressive-a group of guys who obviously are doing what they love. Somewhat the same way that I feel about snowboarding-no matter what the conditions (with the one exception of pouring rain), it’s me, the snow, the hill and nothing else interrupts. Good for the head and for me, a great way to re-energize for the week ahead.

All of us work in a hectic, jam-packed work environment of constant movement, communication, selling something and problem solving. For me, it’s what I love doing most and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Just too bad that sleep gets in the way. Having said that, it’s also important-at least for me-to be able to turn it all off for a burst of time and turn to something else that I love…like the beach or the snow. It’s like a mini-vacation all collapsed into 60 minutes.

With just a few selling days left in the year, it’s important this weekend to clear your head, do something that you love (besides the thrill of the sale, of course), re-energize and get ready to launch full force into Monday.

Have a great weekend…
