Now that I am "older" with my recent March birthday, I realize that the people I really enjoy being around and working with as friends, clients, and collogues are those that stretch themselves physically and mentally.
I've had the excitement of working with Billy and his team guiding strategy for 10 years while he was Chief of Police and Commissioner at the Boston Police Department as Boston became one of the safest cities in the U.S. through the hard work and of these incredible men and women at the BPD!
Billy is just an exceptional leader with extraordinary energy, commitment and always focused on doing the right thing!
Always pushing the boundaries, today, as Executive Director of Public Safety at Boston College, Billy has expanded his skillset with advanced degrees leadership, safety and in computer science.
This does not mean that we need to think about running next year's Marathon although more than a few of my alums did just that on Monday. For me, it's walking on the beach when I'm not in Boston at the gym or working in the Vermont woodlot. Anything is better than nothing!
Maybe, it's taking an academic course or a course in cooking or anything that will stimulate your thinking and involve you with other similar students. This is one of the reasons I continue to teach at Tufts and MIT. Maybe it's working as a board advisor in a business or for a local not-for-profit that's important to you.
