The Marketing of Me
As a Tufts professor, given the highly interactive nature of my two courses in Marketing and in Sales, I am asked hundreds of times every semester for tips and connections in how to find that perfect first full-time job or engaging summer internship. As a result, I incorporate into every class 15 minutes of best practices creating the best Value Propositions for example, since that highly effective, but complex marketing and sales tool is something I teach in the courses. In that way I bring academics down to the real world as we spin those same concepts that they employ in developing their from marketing plans for their project companies directly to marketing themselves.
Last year, for my students and my fraternity brothers, I created a short video about “The Marketing of Me", which I tested out this fall in a 30-minute speech I made to 300 parents on Parent’s Weekend. It was fun to give, and it resonated well. I strongly believe that if I cannot prepare these young women and men for jobs that they both love and for which they are well paid, I shouldn’t be teaching.
As a result, I just created this guide on… “The Marketing of Me”.
