Thanks! Travel safe...and take a day off from Sales

Not many times of year...as in no other times...do I ever think about taking a day off from my passion of exploring the world of Sales & Marketing.

But, here it is-Thanksgiving, the very best holiday of the year, and it's time to...
  • Kick back and relax
  • Celebrate with snowboarding, hiking, or watching football
  • Rest and read with no interruptions
  • Visit with friends or family or both
  • Enjoy one another with no gifts to get in the way
And the best part of all of this is that the day is also an excuse to eat way too much and drink just a bit more than usual.  It's like someone declared a national holiday on calories and over-imbibing!  Just remember to keep an eye on Uncle Ernie sneaking down to the cellar too many times.

For the sales and marketing side of my brain, it's also a day, at least in the B2B world, where there will be absolutely no emails on Thursday looking for your end of the month forecasts, pushing you for your sales funnel data and asking you to squeeze in just one more 30 minute meeting before the end of the day on Friday. Largely since not many of us in the B2B world will be working on Black Friday.  Another gift that grew out of the 1960's from a couple of genius retail marketing guys and extended the one day of giving thanks originally instituted by President Lincoln who created Thanksgiving in 1863.

So, just a couple of very sincere comments from the Coach...
  • Really enjoy these couple of days off
  • Take time to do absolutely nothing at some point over the holiday.
  • Walk in the woods, read, play with the kids, go snowboarding
  • Try to untether for one day-no smartphone or email. I know I will fail this advice.
Happy Thanksgiving resized 600...and most importantly, give thanks. Try saying the actual word, "THANKS" all weekend. Express your real thanks to your friends, your family and just about everyone else you meet.  Thanksgiving only comes this one day a year, so think about maxing out your expression of thanks.  I've been doing this over the past day or two, and it's had an interesting effect.

Enjoy the day, and thanks for being part of my own experience.

Please t
ravel safely!  I have a couple of customer calls this morning and then will be joining the rest of the wackos on the road heading for Vermont.

Good Selling...come Monday morning bright and early!
